"Mt. Pleasant Friends began to settle at Mt. Pleasant in 1800 and with those who settled at Short
Creek, about one-half mile west
of Mt. Pleasant, Jefferson County, they started worship services. A Worship and Preparative Meeting
officially came into existence at
Short Creek on December 19, 1801. Concord and Short Creek Preparative Meetings were organized as a monthly
Meeting at this
time. The Mt. Pleasant Friends met at Short Creek Meeting house until the construction of the Yearly
Meeting house in Mt. Pleasant
in 1815. In 1816 the Friends in Mt. Pleasant began holding worship services in the Yearly Meeting house.
A Preparative Meeting was
established in 1817 as a component of Short Creek Monthly Meeting. The Separation of 1828 divided the
Mt. Pleasant Meeting. THe
Hicksite branch purchased land about one mile west of Mt. Pleasant at Trenton and built a meeting house
there."
